The holiday shopping season is in full effect. While we love shopping and buying the perfect (eco-friendly) gifts for the ones we love, our favorite part of this season is giving back. Not only does giving back feel good, but giving is such an important part of overall wellness. People who give are happier, more joyful. They’re more satisfied and generally feel better about themselves and the world around them. They tend to have a more optimistic outlook on life and a greater sense of well-being as well.
In the spirit of giving and #GivingTuesday, we wanted to share a few organizations to consider giving to this holiday season and beyond.
3 Eco-Friendly/Conscious Organizations We Love
Non-GMO Project
The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization that’s dedicated to building and protecting our Non-GMO food supply. In the United States, companies often use genetically modified ingredients in their products. Products we use and eat every day. The Non-GMO Project is an organization that acts as a third-party verification for non-GMO products. Recently, we underwent the rigorous process to receive our Non-GMO Project verification and we truly stand by the work that this organization is doing for our health and well being! Donate to support their mission to give everyone the choice to choose what’s in their food!
Environmental Working Group
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting human health and the environment. Through their extensive research, online database, and detailed reports, the EWG helps to educate the public about what’s really in the products we interact with, the environment that surrounds us, and the business behind it all. Their Skin Deep database is a great resource for every one of us to know more about the hidden ingredients lurking in some of the most “natural” products on the market today. Support their mission to protect our environment and our health.
The Sierra Club
The Sierra Club is a grassroots environmental organization committed to defending everyone’s right to a healthy world. Through their work, they have built a national community of activists that have led efforts to produce and pass campaigns like the Clean Air and Endangered Species Act, securing the protection of hundreds of parks and monuments, and leading the charge for clean energy. Donate to support their efforts to give our earth a future through environmental change.
What organizations are you supporting this holiday season? We’d love to know about the organizations you believe in that are working to make our world a healthier, happier, place.
